Redfish Lake Campground sits on the shores of one of the most stunning alpine lakes in the American West. Framed by the jagged peaks of the Sawtooth Range, Redfish Lake gets its name from the sockeye salmon that once turned the lake red during spawning runs.
What to Expect: At 6,550 feet elevation, the campground is surrounded by lodgepole pine forest with direct lake access. The turquoise waters of the lake are fed by snowmelt and remain cool even in summer. Sandy beaches, a boat ramp, and a marina with kayak and canoe rentals make this a water lover's paradise.
Hiking: The Sawtooth Range offers world-class hiking. Alpine Lake Trail, Bench Lakes, and the Redfish Lake Creek Trail are accessible from camp. The nearby town of Stanley is the gateway to over 700 miles of trails.
Dark Skies: The Sawtooth Valley is a designated Dark Sky Reserve — one of only a handful in the US. The Milky Way is spectacular on clear nights.
Tips for RVers: Sites accommodate RVs up to 36 feet. No hookups are available. The nearest fuel and supplies are in Stanley (5 miles). Cell service is very limited.
