Platform house rules
The plain-language rules that keep PickRV honest for renters, hosts, and the founder reading every report. For the statute-grade version see /terms.
Last updated 2026-06-06.
1. Booking rules (platform floor)
Every booking on PickRV runs through a two-layer cancellation resolver. The floor below is the same on every listing in every state — vendors and state overlays only make it safer.
- Minimum 48-hour free cancellation on every booking.
- Host cancels on you → 100% refund.
- Force majeure (federal disaster, wildfire evacuation) → 100% refund.
- Water rentals: NWS small-craft advisory or higher → 100% refund.
- Resolved policy is frozen at checkout and shown on your confirmation email.
2. Host responsibilities
Hosts are independent operators who list their own vehicles on PickRV. When they accept a booking, they accept these duties to the renter.
- Deliver the rig as described — make, model, year, sleeping capacity, hookups.
- Honor the resolved cancellation policy frozen on the booking, not a later edit.
- Disclose known mechanical, towing, or generator limitations before pickup.
- Maintain registration, road-legality, and required state safety inspections.
- Respond to renter messages within 12 hours during an active booking.
3. Renter responsibilities
Renters get the rig back to the host in the same condition, minus normal wear. These rules keep the platform honest for everyone.
- Driver matches the booking name and holds a valid US driver license.
- Return on the date and time on the confirmation — message early if delayed.
- No smoking inside the rig unless the listing explicitly allows it.
- Report damage and mechanical issues within 6 hours of discovery.
- Mileage, generator hours, and toll charges follow the listing's posted rates.
4. Insurance and liability surface
PickRV does not sell or offer insurance coverage and is not an insurer. Renters arrange their own coverage; hosts may carry their own commercial policy. See /legal/insurance-disclosure.
- You bring your own coverage — confirm your personal auto or RV policy covers rentals before your trip.
- Personal auto policies rarely cover rented RVs — read the disclosure.
- Security deposit holds are placed via Stripe and released after the 48-hour post-trip review window, unless a damage claim is filed.
- PickRV does not sell coverage and is not an insurer; renters and hosts arrange coverage with their own insurers.
5. Prohibited uses
Every listing is for personal recreational use unless the host advertises commercial terms.
- No ridesharing, taxi, or paid passenger transport.
- No off-road use outside what the listing explicitly allows.
- No re-rental, sublease, or transfer of the booking outside the platform.
- No competitive racing or stunt use.
- No illegal activity, weapons transport across state lines, or controlled substances.
6. Dispute resolution
Disputes go through the platform first. We freeze a resolver snapshot on every booking; the renter and host both see the same numbers.
- Open a ticket in /help with the booking ID and the source hash from your email.
- Support reviews the snapshot, evidence, and timestamps before making a call.
- Refunds are issued through Stripe as soon as a dispute resolves — card credits typically post within 5-10 business days.
- Unresolved disputes are escalated under the binding-arbitration clause in /terms.
7. Honest framing
PickRV is operated by PICKRV LLC. Vendors with legacy policies have them migrated to safe defaults, and every checkout writes a resolver snapshot that governs your booking — independent of anything edited later.
- Hosts keep 100% of the base price they set; PickRV's flat 15% markup is added on top of it and built into the listed price. Partner hosts carry a 10% markup instead of the standard 15% — for as long as they host with us, with no end date. The partner rate comes either with a personal invitation from our team, or automatically once you have 3 or more active listings. Renters pay a transparent 10% service fee at checkout — the exact total is itemized before payment. Identity verification is a trust signal shown to renters; it is never a pricing condition.
- We do not claim to be larger, more insured, or more reviewed than we are.
8. Contact and reporting
