Couples RV trips have ONE consistent failure mode: trying to do too much in too little time. The marketing photos show one couple at sunset over the Grand Canyon — they don't show the 4 hours of driving required to get there from the rig pickup, the 90-minute setup at the campsite, and the realization that you have 47 minutes of actual sunset time before sunset is over. Reality: pick fewer destinations, stay 2+ nights at each. Other realities:
Bathroom dynamics. Wet baths get OLD on day 4 (toilet paper drying issue, towels never dry, condensation). For trips >5 days, prioritize a dry bath.
Cooking dynamics. The 'we'll cook every night' fantasy lasts 3 days. Plan 2 nights/week of restaurant meals, especially after long drives.
Connectivity for digital nomads. If either of you works remote, verify cell coverage at every planned stop BEFORE booking — Verizon coverage maps lie about national parks. Starlink RV ($150/mo) is the only true off-grid solution.
Privacy at campgrounds. Many campgrounds pack RVs 12-15ft apart; you'll hear neighbor's TV. For privacy, prioritize state parks with 30+ ft separation (most are; KOAs aren't), or dispersed BLM/Forest Service.
Bear-country precautions. Bears are an issue west of Mississippi River + in NE forests. Lock food away from rig, keep spray on you for hiking, don't sleep with food in the rig overnight.
The 'romantic vs comfortable' tension. Boondock under stars sounds romantic; reality is no shower, no fridge after 18hr battery drain, possible cold. Plan 2 boondock + 2 hookup nights alternating for romance + recovery.

Class B campervan (17-22ft) — you can park anywhere, fit in scenic pullouts that exclude bigger rigs, and hold an actual king bed in premium models. If you need full bath, look at compact Class C 24-26ft.
Yes if you follow basic precautions: tell someone your route, avoid overnight in single-vehicle situations (2+ rigs in earshot is the norm at popular dispersed sites), bring bear spray (for bears AND people deterrent), satellite communicator (Garmin InReach) recommended above 6,000ft.
