RV amenities, explained
"Full hookups," "dump station," "boondock-ready" — the amenity words on a listing decide how comfortable your trip is and where you can camp. This hub explains each one in plain language and links it straight to a filtered search or the relevant guide, so you can go from "what does that mean?" to "show me rigs that have it" in one click.
Hookups (power, water, sewer)
A full-hookup site gives the rig shore power, fresh-water fill, and a sewer connection so you can run AC, refill, and dump without moving. Many rigs also carry their own generator or solar for off-grid nights.
Dump stations
Grey and black tanks have to be emptied somewhere legal. A dump station is the proper place to do it — at campgrounds, fuel stops, and dedicated facilities. Know where the nearest one is before the tanks fill.
WiFi & connectivity
Working from the road or just keeping the kids streaming? Some rigs ship with a hotspot or satellite internet. Coverage still depends on the route, so plan remote stretches with that in mind.
Pet-friendly rigs
Bringing the dog along? Filter for hosts who welcome pets, and check each listing's pet rules. Many campgrounds are pet-friendly too — confirm leash and breed policies at booking.
Solar & off-grid power
Solar panels plus a battery bank let you camp away from hookups for a day or more without running a generator. Ideal for boondocking and quiet, remote sites.
Generator power
An onboard generator runs the AC and appliances when there's no shore power. Check fuel type and any quiet-hours rules at the campground before you rely on it overnight.
