Pennsylvania Dutch Country Apple & Pumpkin Country · fall harvest
Pennsylvania Dutch Country Apple & Pumpkin Country
Pennsylvania has one of the longest, most diverse apple seasons in America, with varieties ripening from mid-July into early November, making the Dutch Country a natural anchor for a fall RV loop. Per the Pennsylvania Tourism Office, pick-your-own orchards across the region offer Honeycrisp, Winesap, Jonagold and Gala alongside pumpkin patches, hayrides, corn mazes, and farm-market cider doughnuts and apple butter. You can string together several family orchards in a single weekend without long drives. It is classic harvest agritourism set among working Amish-country farmland.

Nearest RV base
Gifford Pinchot State Park (northern York County) has roughly 309 campsites, of which about 141 offer electric (119 electric-only plus 22 full-hookup). Note that beginning in 2027 the campground undergoes a phased shower-house renovation, with portions temporarily closed while other areas stay open. Private full-hookup parks also cluster around Lancaster.
Plan it honestly
Peak ripeness shifts year to year with the season's weather and is never guaranteed, so check current ripeness before you commit to a drive. Each orchard is a private business with its own hours, U-pick days, and fees (some weekend-only in October) - confirm directly before you go. If you camp at Gifford Pinchot, verify which loops are open during the 2027-onward shower-house renovation.
