Nine Mile Canyon, Utah: An RV Traveler's Guide to the 'World's Longest Art Gallery'
PickRV Editorial

Nine Mile Canyon, in east-central Utah, is described by the Bureau of Land Management as 'the world's longest art gallery' — a 46-mile corridor with one of the densest concentrations of rock art in the country. Panels and historic inscriptions, much of it Fremont, line the canyon between Wellington (south of Price) and the high desert toward Myton. It is a long, unhurried day of pull-offs and short walks, and a place whose petroglyphs are entrusted to every visitor's care.
Is Nine Mile Canyon good for an RV day trip?
Yes. The BLM describes Nine Mile Canyon as a 46-mile drive with identified rock-art panels, trailheads, and restrooms and picnic facilities at Cottonwood Glen and Daddy Canyon, with no fee. It is a full-day, self-driven route from Wellington, south of Price. Confirm road conditions on the official BLM page, as the canyon road is long and remote.

The canyon rewards patience: rather than one viewpoint, the BLM points to identified panels and trailheads strung along the 46-mile road, with a picnic area, restrooms, and a historic homestead at Cottonwood Glen, and parking and bathrooms at Daddy Canyon. Plan a full day and take the short walks slowly.
These petroglyphs are sacred and irreplaceable. They survive only because most visitors look without touching, so keep to the marked trailheads, never touch, chalk, or trace the carvings, and respect private property where the route passes it. What you leave untouched is what the next generation and the descendant communities inherit.
Because the canyon road is long and remote with no services along much of it, travel self-contained, carry water and fuel, and check current road and weather conditions on the official BLM page before committing your rig to the drive.
