Eclipses are once-in-a-lifetime travel opportunities for many people, and ones to plan around for serious astronomy enthusiasts. The next major US-visible total solar eclipse is August 23, 2044 — the totality path crosses Montana and North Dakota. RV travelers who plan years ahead can position themselves along the centerline for 2+ minutes of totality in remote, dark-sky locations.
Total lunar eclipses (like the March 3, 2026 event) are much more broadly visible and don't require travel to a specific path — making them ideal for combining with a Dark Sky park RV trip.
For the August 2, 2027 total solar eclipse, the totality path crosses Europe + North Africa + Middle East. US visibility is partial only. International travel required for totality.
