Lancaster County Covered Bridges
Lancaster County's official government site lists 20 county-maintained covered bridges, most built in the mid-1800s with the classic Wood Burr Truss design and spanning from 54 to 155 feet. They're scattered across the rolling Amish farmland of Pennsylvania Dutch country, making a relaxed RV loop where covered bridges, roadside produce stands, and horse-and-buggy lanes share the route. The county notes the bridges remain open to public travel, so caution is essential. Autumn dresses the surrounding farms in color, but the drives are rewarding spring through fall.
Best season
Late September through late October for Amish-country fall color; pleasant any time spring through fall

Drive it safely
The county explicitly maintains a Weight Limit Ordinance on these bridges, and several are narrow single-lane historic spans — do not take an RV through. Park on a shoulder where safe, watch for buggy and farm traffic, and walk in to photograph; the county warns visitors that all bridges are open to public travel, so stay alert.
