Macon International Cherry Blossom Festival
Macon, Georgia calls itself the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World, a title noted in the Congressional Record, and backs it up with more than 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees blooming citywide each spring. What started in 1982 as a community celebration has grown into a month-long March festival with hundreds of events, all tracing back to a single Yoshino a local realtor, William A. Fickling Sr., found in his yard in 1949. For RV travelers it is a rare city where the blossoms are everywhere, and you can base at a county lake park minutes from downtown.

Plan it honestly
Peak bloom is weather-driven and varies every year; the festival runs through March (the festival cites a typical peak around March 23) but the trees follow their own schedule and full bloom is never guaranteed on a fixed date. Yoshino blossoms are delicate and a warm spell or storm can speed or shorten the show, so build flexibility into your trip and check current bloom status before you arrive.
