What the NPS site won't tell you
Locals know: the Lily Mountain trail (a short hike outside the park near Estes Park) gives you the panoramic Rocky Mountain view without timed-entry reservation or any crowds. Park at the trailhead off CO-7, hike 4 miles round-trip. Sunrise from the summit is spectacular.
