California condors — the largest land bird in North America with a 9.5-foot wingspan — are seen from Pinnacles' high country roughly 4 days a week per the park's volunteer logs, the densest reliable wild population south of the Big Sur cliffs. The east entrance is the only road access; there is no through-road connecting east and west, even though they meet at the High Peaks trail system. Pinnacles Campground at the east entrance accepts rigs up to 32 ft, runs year-round, and offers 26 sites with 30A electric — a rarity in the California parks system. Dump station on-site. Summer temperatures in the inner park exceed 100°F May through September, and the park's caves (Bear Gulch and Balconies) close during peak bat maternity season April through July.
