The Zion–Mt. Carmel Tunnel is the single hardest planning constraint for any RV trip in southern Utah.

Any rig over 7'10" wide or 11'4" tall (mirror-to-mirror, antenna-to-pavement) triggers a $15 traffic-control fee and forces one-way escort through the 1.1-mile bore — and the schedule narrows in shoulder seasons. Watchman Campground accepts rigs up to 40 feet with electric-only hookups year-round; South Campground runs the same lengths without power, March through November. Both loops sit inside the shuttle-mandatory zone, meaning the campsite is your basecamp and the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is car-free seven months of the year. Dumping is on-site at Watchman. The Kolob Canyons section in the park's far northwest is the bypass for oversize rigs that can't risk the tunnel.

Devils Garden is the only campground inside Arches — 51 sites, year-round, max 40 ft. Campers don't need the timed-entry permit, but day-driving out then back in does.

Capitol Reef

Fruita Campground sits on the Fremont River floodplain — check the Capitol Reef–specific NWS forecast July through September and never enter Capitol Gorge or the Burr Trail with a rig.
