The Paunsaugunt Plateau holds Bryce at 8,000-9,100 ft — high enough that winter freezes the campground water systems by Halloween and doesn't thaw them until April. North Campground stays open year-round with limited dry-camp service (no water in winter); Sunset Campground runs April through October with rig sites up to 40 feet. Neither loop has hookups; the dump station opens with Sunset's season and closes when water shuts off in late October. Scenic Drive's southern terminus at Rainbow Point requires rigs over 25 feet to drop the trailer at the Visitor Center lot — the road south of Inspiration Point has tight pullouts and the Rainbow Point turnaround is undersize. Plowing keeps the road open to Sunset Point in winter; everything south depends on snowfall.
