Furnace Creek Campground holds 18 full-hookup RV sites — the only NPS-operated full-hookup loop in the entire Mojave Desert — and bookings open six months ahead in monthly batches. The 40-ft cap, year-round season, and 190-ft-below-sea-level elevation combine to make this the most contrarian campsite reservation in the system: peak demand is November-March, when the rest of the country chases sun and this one ranks as the warmest national park, while summer rigs occupy maybe 10% of the loop because daytime highs cleared 130°F in 2020-2021 NWS readings. Texas Spring and Sunset campgrounds are dry-camp seasonal loops at 40 ft. Stovepipe Wells offers concessioner full-hookup outside the NPS reservation system. Tire-failure events in summer are a documented operational pattern — pavement temperatures exceed manufacturer spec.
