Off-road in New Mexico — overview
New Mexico's BLM offices (Las Cruces, Farmington, Socorro) oversee millions of acres of dispersed-use OHV terrain. Cibola NF + Gila NF + Carson NF round out the federal network.
The high desert (4,000-7,000 ft) makes for cool morning rides + hot afternoons — most riders go dawn to noon, then again at sunset. Summer monsoon (July-August) brings flash floods that change trails overnight.
PickRV's NM cohort stages near ABQ (West Mesa OHV), Las Cruces (Robledo Mountains BLM), and Silver City (Gila NF gateway). Every rig carries the NM OHV decal and is matched to BLM travel-management plan zones.

FAQs
Is summer rideable in NM?
Hot and risky — afternoon flash-flood monsoon (July-August) closes trails. Dawn rides are fine; midday is dangerous. Spring + fall are preferred.
Are there guided Chaco rides?
Chaco Culture NHP is non-motorized in the park itself; OHV access is on surrounding BLM. PickRV does not bundle guided trips currently.
Does NM honor my CO sticker?
Yes — Western reciprocal block. CO, AZ, UT all recognized in NM for short visits.
