Who it fits
- Experienced motorcyclist transitioning from street to dirt.
- Off-road enthusiast wanting to ride singletrack that no UTV or ATV will fit on.
- Endurance / hare scrambles racer training for an upcoming event.
Where it rides
- Bend OR (Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, USFS singletrack) — high desert dirt bike paradise.
- Hollister Hills SVRA CA — California state vehicular recreation area, dedicated dirt-bike loops at three difficulty levels.
- Texas Hill Country (private MX parks) — dry hardpack with elevation, year-round riding except summer heat.
- East Fork ATV / OHV Park OK — beginner-friendly mixed terrain.
Permit reality (per state)
- OR USFS lands: OHV permit $10/year, available online from OR Parks & Rec.
- CA SVRA: state park day-use $5/vehicle, plus Green or Red Sticker on the bike.
- Texas private MX parks: gate fee per day, no state permit (private land).
- Most rental dirt bikes are spark-arrestor equipped (USFS requires it) — confirm before going to USFS land.
Safety reality (honest)
- Dirt bike riding has the highest injury rate of the off-road categories. PickRV requires body armor (chest protector, knee/elbow guards) on every dirt-bike rental.
- First-time dirt-bike rider should expect to fall multiple times in the first hour. The bike is light enough to pick up; the helmet and armor do their job.
- Riding alone in remote areas is the highest-risk pattern. Recommend a buddy and a satellite communicator. The host can usually pair riders during peak season.

FAQs
Do I need a motorcycle endorsement?
Off-road dirt bikes do not require a motorcycle endorsement on the public street (because you cannot ride them on the street). PickRV does require previous motorcycle experience for any dirt-bike rental — first-time motorcycle riders are gently redirected to a UTV or ATV rental.
Is body armor included?
Yes — every PickRV dirt-bike rental includes a DOT helmet, chest protector, knee/elbow guards, and gloves. Boots are usually included; bring your own if you prefer.
Will I crash?
Probably yes, if you are new to dirt bikes. The bike is built to be picked up; the gear is built to absorb impact. Hosts who rent to first-timers stage at trails where low-speed falls are survivable.
