Moab — Slickrock and the Whole Enchilada
The Whole Enchilada descends roughly 7,000 vertical feet from the La Sals to the Colorado River; it is a shuttle ride, and shuttle operators run it only once the upper snow clears, usually from June.

The stretch from Hittle Bottom to Take Out Beach is the classic day float — moving water without an overnight permit, which the Westwater and Cataract stretches upstream and downstream both require.

Utah Division of Wildlife Resources ↗Utah's aquatic-invasive-species programme covers every watercraft, including hand-launched kayaks, canoes and paddleboards — not just trailered boats. Craft must be cleaned, drained and dried between waters, and motorised boaters carry an additional annual education requirement. Rented paddlecraft are handed over decontaminated; the obligation transfers to you between waters on a multi-lake trip.
Overnight river trips need a permit; day floats generally do not
BLM — recreation permits and passes ↗The Bureau of Land Management runs permit systems on Utah's overnight river stretches — Westwater, Desolation/Gray and Cataract among them — and several are allocated by lottery months ahead. The Moab Daily and similar day sections are not on that system. If your rental includes a raft or a loaded canoe, confirm which stretch you are on before you assume access.
