Arizona Game & Fish — boating ↗Arizona designates certain waters, including parts of the Colorado River system, and requires watercraft leaving them to be cleaned, drained and dried, with decontamination requirements for some craft. Paddlecraft are not automatically exempt. If you are moving a rented hull between Havasu, Powell and an inland lake in the same trip, this is the rule that applies to you.
Tonto Pass for parking at Salt River recreation sites
Tonto National Forest ↗Much of the popular water and trailhead parking near Phoenix sits inside Tonto National Forest, where a daily pass is required to park at developed recreation sites. It is bought in advance, not at the site. A gear rental does not include it, and the enforcement is real on busy weekends.
Monsoon flash flooding is the desert's real hazard
