Matanzas Pass Mooring Field

Matanzas Pass Mooring Field is the Town of Fort Myers Beach's transient-only mooring system inside Estero Bay — 70 city-managed mooring balls, no wet slips, no fuel dock, and a centralized pumpout boat that services every ball on request. The mooring field rebuilt in 2023 after Hurricane Ian's September 2022 direct hit destroyed every original ball, the harbor master office, and the dinghy dock; current balls are rated for the 110-mph sustained wind threshold under the rebuilt municipal code. Channel depth runs 10 ft at the field basin. Vessel-length cap is 60 ft because the field's ball-to-ball spacing was engineered around a maximum LOA — vessels above 60 ft anchor outside the field or stage at Salty Sam's private marina 0.5 mi east. The town's dinghy dock at the harbor master office is the only legal landing for live-aboards.
