Faro Blanco at Marathon mile-marker 48 was rebuilt from the slab up after Hurricane Irma's 2017 direct hit destroyed the original 1950s-era marina — the current docks float on concrete pilings rated for Category 4 wind-driven surge and the operating contract requires vessels over 80 ft to evacuate the basin at 72 hours' notice when a tropical storm enters the Florida Straits forecast cone. The marina holds 75 wet slips on the Florida Bay side of US-1 with a 130-ft vessel-length cap on the outer pier — large enough for the megayacht trade that runs Miami-to-Key-West charters. Channel depth runs 8 ft at the marina mouth and 10 ft at the Vaca Key Channel entrance. Curry Hammock State Park 5 miles north on Long Point Key is the closest RV-friendly state-park basecamp with 28 sites at 40-amp electric and a 40-ft rig cap; reservations open 11 months ahead and book out for January–March within hours.
