Sea turtle nesting season (May through October) closes the beach to vehicle access dusk-to-dawn and the dune crossover boardwalks become the only legal route. The Coquina Quarry's living-history demonstration shows how blocks were cut for the Castillo de San Marcos starting in 1672.
