Dry Tortugas sits 70 miles west of Key West in the Gulf — accessible only by the Yankee Freedom ferry (daily), Key West Seaplane Charters (45 minutes each way), or private boat. The park's lone developed campsite is on Garden Key adjacent to Fort Jefferson and accepts 10 sites, primitive tent-only, by ferry-reservation lottery. RVers stage at Boyd's Campground or Sigsbee Naval Annex in Key West for the trip; both accept rigs up to 40 ft. The ferry takes a limited number of overnight campers — book the ferry seat the same time as the campsite. No food, water, or supplies on Garden Key — every camper carries in and out.
