What the official site doesn't tell you
PickRV editor's field notes
The CA State Parks site lists Morro Bay as 'family-friendly' but doesn't tell you that the campground is split-level — Loops A + B (sites 1-65) are upper-bluff with unobstructed Morro Rock views; Loops C + D (sites 66-134) are lower bayside with bird-watching but obstructed Rock view. Premium winter sunset photographers book A/B; bird-watchers prefer C/D. Second non-obvious: Morro Strand State Beach is a separate state park 1mi north with its own campground (24 sites, oceanfront RV, $50/night) — most renters don't know there are two. Third: the museum entry is FREE for campers (state park pass) but $5 for non-campers — present your camping receipt.
