The short version of the split
When you book on PickRV, the money splits in a way we publish openly. Owners keep 75% of every booking. PickRV takes 20% to run the platform, and 5% goes to a protection reserve. State Pioneers — the first three hosts in each state — keep 85% their entire first year. That sentence is the canon — it's the same split shown across the site, not marketing rounding.
The point of the model is alignment: a lower published platform fee than the large national marketplaces means hosts can keep more of each booking, which in turn lets them list at competitive nightly rates. The savings are real because the math is — not because we're claiming a discount we can't back up.
What renters pay (and don't)
On PickRV, renters pay no separate service fee on top of the nightly rate — the price you see is the host's price, plus applicable taxes, plus anything you choose to add. That's different from marketplaces that stack a renter-side service fee onto every booking.
Payment processing (the card-network cost) is passed through at cost rather than marked up, and taxes are calculated for your trip's location. The goal is a checkout where you can see what each line is for, instead of a single inflated total with the fees hidden inside it.
- No separate renter service fee — you pay the host's nightly rate, not a marketplace markup on top.
- Taxes are calculated for your trip's location and shown before you pay.
- Card processing is passed through at cost, not marked up.
Optional coverage — your choice, clearly priced
Liability and damage coverage is offered at checkout through a licensed third-party insurer, and it's optional — you decide whether to add it. The policy limits and deductible are disclosed before you buy, so you're choosing with the actual terms in front of you, not signing up blind.
We keep this carrier-neutral on purpose: the coverage is the insurer's product, quoted by them, and you see the real terms at checkout. PickRV doesn't quote insurance prices on marketing pages — the binding numbers live at checkout where they belong.
Verify locally: Coverage is optional and provided by a licensed third-party insurer; policy limits, deductible, and price are disclosed at checkout before you buy. We keep insurance carrier-neutral and quote it only at checkout.
Why the model favors everyone (honestly)
Lower platform fee means hosts keep more, which lets them price competitively, which means renters generally pay less for the same rig class — and PickRV still funds the protection reserve and runs the platform. It's a three-sided model, and the numbers are published so you can check them rather than take our word for it.
