Second: Wekiwa Springs State Park, the closest natural-Florida campground inside the metro, opens its 60 RV sites to Florida residents 11 months ahead and non-residents at 10 months — summer weekends vanish the day the window opens at 8 a.m. Eastern.
Third: the rainy season runs roughly May 24 through mid-October, with peninsula sea-breeze collisions firing thunderstorms between 4 and 6 p.m. almost daily. Driving a 35-foot Class A through Apopka or down I-Drive during a 5 p.m. supercell with lightning crossovers is not a beginner exercise.

Parking ordinances that bite RVs
Recreational vehicles, trailers and boats parked on public streets within Orlando city limits are restricted under Chapter 39, Article V (Stopping, Standing and Parking) of the Orlando Traffic and Parking Code. Overnight street parking of RVs in residential zones is not permitted as a general residential parking use.

What this means for you: No legal overnight RV street-parking in city residential zones. Plan to be inside a campground or commercial RV park by sunset. Code enforcement responds to neighbor complaints; tickets and tow risk for repeat violations.
Orange County requires a Boat, Recreation Vehicle and/or Temporary Portable Storage Container permit before storing an RV on private residential property within unincorporated Orange County. The RV must meet specific placement, screening and setback rules.

What this means for you: Friends offering driveway parking outside city limits still need this permit. Without it, code enforcement can cite both property owner and visitor. Pull the permit before you arrive or stay at a licensed RV park.
