Miami Beach prohibits parking any vehicle taller than 7 feet or longer than 21 feet on its public streets between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. under Chapter 106 of the city code, and unincorporated Miami-Dade restricts residential RV storage under Sec. 33-20(f) to a single unit not exceeding 30 feet in length and 10 feet in height. That kills any thought of overnighting your Class A on Collins Avenue or in a Brickell residential street.

Three things shape every Miami RV plan: the Atlantic hurricane window (June 1 to November 30), the February Miami International Boat Show that fills every campground south of Fort Lauderdale, and the Everglades dry-season camping calendar where Long Pine Key inside the national park only operates November through May. Boat-ramp access for Bahamas-bound crossings clusters at Crandon, Black Point, and Haulover, all of which expect trailered arrivals before sunrise.

Parking ordinances that bite RVs

No vehicle over 7 ft tall or 21 ft long may park on any Miami Beach public street between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Your first hour in Miami

Before you leave the lot

Confirm your campground reservation is on a written confirmation, not a phone hold. Larry & Penny Thompson takes phone bookings at (305) 232-1049 but only honors written confirmations.
Top off propane at U-Haul at 3500 NW 36th St before 6 p.m. - the only refill station inside city limits with reliable RV-onboard service.

Within the first hour

Off-load any oversized vehicle from Miami Beach by 1:30 a.m. to comply with Chapter 106 overnight rules. Use Larry & Penny Thompson or Miami Everglades RV Resort as your overnight base.
If arriving June-November, identify your evacuation route (I-75 west to Naples or I-95 north past Stuart) and screenshot the Miami-Dade storm surge zone map.

Before bed

Buy a Sun Pass transponder at any Publix before driving the Turnpike to Homestead - cash tolls cost roughly 25% more.
Confirm Everglades NP entry stickers; the 7-day pass is $35 per vehicle and the America the Beautiful pass is accepted at Long Pine Key.

Avoid this trap

Parking a Class A or any rig over 21 feet on Miami Beach public streets overnight, assuming a meter receipt covers you. Chapter 106 overrides the meter and applies 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. citywide.

Tow and impound fees run $250-$500 plus a citation typically $115 and up. The tow yard is in West Miami-Dade so retrieval eats most of a day. Miami Beach parking enforcement issues tens of thousands of citations annually.
