Hidden Canyon

Hidden Canyon was closed for over four years after the 2019 rockfall that destroyed the Weeping Rock trailhead approach; the park reopened the route in 2024 with rebuilt chain sections and an interim shuttle stop. The trail climbs 850 feet from the Zion Canyon floor up a series of cliff-cut switchbacks that include 200+ feet of installed chain along sheer drop-offs — comparable exposure to Angels Landing without the permit lottery. The trail dead-ends a quarter-mile into the hanging canyon itself, where a small natural arch and pothole pools mark the turnaround. Zero direct trailhead parking: the temporary Weeping Rock shuttle stop is the only access, which means you board the Zion Canyon shuttle at the visitor center after staging the rig at Watchman or South Campground. Conditions vary year-to-year — the park publishes status updates on its conditions page because flash-flood damage repeatedly closes the canyon section.
