Oak Creek runs through a 1908-vintage apple orchard that the Pendley family planted and the state acquired in 1985 — and the eponymous natural sandstone water slide draws so much summer demand from Phoenix and Flagstaff that the park introduced a timed-entry reservation system in 2021. Day-use only: no developed campground, no RV overnight inventory at all. Rigs of any length can enter on day-use tickets but the entrance station limits Class A motorhomes when Highway 89A's narrow canyon section bottlenecks. RV staging for Oak Creek Canyon routes to Cave Spring USFS Campground (7 miles north, dry-camp 25-ft cap), Pine Flat USFS (similar), or Sedona's private RV parks 8 miles south. The slide itself is open year-round but the water temperature drops to lap-pool territory November through March.
