Pismo State Beach sits on California's Central Coast in the town of Oceano, off Highway 1, within the Oceano Dunes area of the larger Guadalupe-Nipomo dunes complex. Managed by California State Parks, it pairs broad beach and coastal dune habitat with two campgrounds — including the Oceano Campground, which has hook-up RV sites. From November through February it also hosts the annual winter migration of Western monarch butterflies at the Monarch Butterfly Grove.

The park sits within the Guadalupe-Nipomo dunes complex, where coastal sand-dune habitat backs a long beach and the freshwater Oceano Lagoon, with walking trails through both.
Two campgrounds serve overnight visitors: North Beach Campground offers tent sites and a campfire center, while Oceano Campground adds hook-up RV sites — a convenient base for a Central Coast trip.
From November through February the Monarch Butterfly Grove draws clusters of overwintering Western monarchs; confirm current camping, reservations, and access on the California State Parks site before you visit.
