USFS forests in CA (Inyo, Sequoia, Shasta-Trinity, others) generally allow dispersed camping outside developed campgrounds.

Coastal Commission rules restrict overnight vehicle camping in beach parking lots and PCH pullouts in many counties.
Mojave summer temps regularly exceed 110F — running A/C requires generator or engine-running, not solar alone.
