Voyageurs National Park is not a developed-campground park

Voyageurs is a water-based park — 40% of its 218,000 acres is surface water (Rainy, Kabetogama, Namakan, Sand Point lakes) and every developed campsite inside the boundary is boat-access only. RVers stage at the four visitor center / put-in areas (Rainy Lake, Kabetogama Lake, Ash River, Crane Lake) where the day-use lots accept RVs of any length and adjacent state forest or county campgrounds provide overnight options. Houseboat rentals from concessioners at Rainy and Kabetogama are the canonical multi-day way to actually visit the park's island sites. Winter access is by snowmobile and ice road from late January through mid-March — Voyageurs is one of two NPS units that publishes a maintained ice road (Yellowstone is the other).
