Most of the park's land area is wilderness with no road access at all — the road-accessible developed campground footprint is Highway 20 (the North Cascades Highway) and a handful of feeder spurs. Newhalem Creek Campground sits on Highway 20 at 500 ft, accepts rigs up to 35 ft, runs mid-May through October, dry-camp. Goodell Creek (also Highway 20) is similar with shorter pullouts. Colonial Creek (north and south loops on Diablo Lake) accepts up to 35 ft with a dump station, late June through mid-September only — late season because the Skagit River flooding cycle keeps the loop closed until snowmelt subsides. Highway 20 itself closes November through April between Ross Dam and the Methow side; the western feeder roads stay open year-round to the developed loops.
