The county in brief
A traveler's read on Mohave County
Mohave County is the only US county with a section of the Grand Canyon's North Rim accessible by road that does NOT route through Coconino — the 61-mile dirt road to Toroweap Overlook on the western Grand Canyon rim is a primitive 4WD route requiring high-clearance and a self-sufficient mindset (no fuel, no water, no cell coverage for the final 30 miles), and is one of the most remote NPS-managed overlooks in the lower 48.
The county wraps Lake Havasu City (population 57,144), Bullhead City along the Colorado River, and Kingman as the historic Route 66 anchor. Snowbird wintering at Lake Havasu's BLM dispersed pullouts pushes the seasonal RV population past 50,000 between November and March per the Lake Havasu Convention & Visitors Bureau.
