Jackson County
County seat Walden, 1,622 sq mi across Colorado. Everything an RV traveler should read before rolling in — where you can boondock, the roads worth the detour, and the local rule that actually matters.

The county in brief
A traveler's read on Jackson County
Jackson County's North Park basin is the largest contiguous moose habitat in the lower 48 — Colorado Parks & Wildlife counts 600+ resident moose across the 1,400-sq-mi basin, the densest moose population per acre south of Wyoming. Walden (population 588) is the only incorporated town and runs on a single intersection of CO-125 and CO-14.
The county sits between three mountain ranges (Park Range west, Medicine Bow east, Rabbit Ears south) and the basin floor at 8,150 ft holds growing-season temperatures that can frost any month of the year. State Forest State Park's 71,000 acres on the eastern edge of the basin holds the largest single state-managed RV-friendly dispersed network in Colorado, with North Michigan Reservoir and Ranger Lakes loops both accepting rigs up to 40 ft.
