Timing
Late September through early November and mid-March through late April are the windows: 65-80 F days, tolerable nights, and Arches and Canyonlands parking clear by mid-morning. Two calendar caveats sit inside the spring window. Easter Jeep Safari (typically straddling late March and early April) brings roughly 20,000 visitors — every full-hookup park sells out 6-12 months ahead at 2-3x rates. And though Arches dropped timed-entry reservations for 2026, the bottleneck moved to parking: Delicate Arch, Devils Garden, and Windows lots fill by 8 a.m. March through October, so the guide's rule is arrive before 7 or after 5. Skip late June through August: half of July tops 100 F, and the monsoon brings flash-flood risk.

The big-rig standard 4 miles south: full hookups with 30/50-amp on pull-through and back-in sites to 75 feet at about $95 a night, booking up to 13 months out — the window Easter Jeep Safari planners actually use. Open March through November; its dump runs $15 for non-guests, without potable water.
The only walk-to-town camp: full-hookup pull-throughs one mile from Main Street at about $85, with standard sites for rigs to 25 feet and premium sites to 35. In a town where the street ordinance forbids every overnight shortcut, sleeping legally within walking distance of dinner is the premium worth naming.
The canyon-rim alternative 23 miles up: 20/30/50-amp electric sites to 56 feet at $60 — but no water at the sites, so fill tanks in Moab before the climb, per the guide. The on-site dump operates mid-February to Thanksgiving. A 4-month window makes it the late-planner's best shot at scenery-grade camping.

No — and Moab enforces it harder than almost anywhere. Municipal Code 10.04.230 prohibits vehicle habitation and overnight camping on streets, alleys, and even private property within city limits; a rig in violation more than four consecutive hours can be impounded, and moving to the same block within 24 hours counts as continuous parking. Legal dispersed camping starts on BLM land outside town.
No — the NPS announced timed entry is not required in 2026, reversing the 2022-2025 program. The constraint became parking: Delicate Arch, Devils Garden, and Windows lots fill by 8 a.m. in season, and the park may temporarily close access when lots are full. The guide's answer is arrival before 7 a.m. or after 5 p.m.
Maverik #341 on Highway 191 is the anchor: free 24-hour dump, potable water, propane, and RV diesel lanes in one stop. Farm & City Feed on Main Street offers propane and a $5 dump for rigs under 30 feet, and most parks in town dump non-guests for $5-15. There is no reason to arrive at a campground with full tanks here.
