Timing
The riding windows are the town's shoulder seasons: mid-March through late April and late September through early November, with 65-80 F days and grippy, cool rock. The spring window contains the sport's main event — Easter Jeep Safari (typically late March into early April; the 2026 edition marked its 60th year), drawing roughly 20,000 visitors with trail permits at $75 per vehicle per day and every hookup park sold out 6-12 months ahead. Ride it or dodge it, but never discover it on arrival. Summer is the wrong season: half of July tops 100 F and the July-August monsoon spikes flash-flood risk in the slot canyons the trails thread. Winter riding exists, but Dead Horse Point's dump closes for snow after Thanksgiving.

It puts machine, trailer, and camp on the legal side of the city boundary at zero cost; the trade is no services and a road the guide warns against driving for the first time at night.
The bigger-rig dispersed corridor 13 miles north: pads to 40 feet, free, 14-day limit with the 30-mile relocation rule after. For a truck-and-toy-hauler combination this is the classic Moab basecamp — machines unloaded at camp, not on a street — with the Moab Information Center's current dispersed map as the pre-arrival download.

No — Municipal Code 12.16.020 makes any trailer, ATV, or camper parked on a city street beyond four consecutive hours impound-eligible, and the guide's checklist calls out this exact scenario: do not detach a trailer on a Moab street while you go off-roading. Stage at your campground or BLM site; the free dispersed corridors exist for precisely this.
