Timing
The two shoulder windows — late September to early November, mid-March to late April — are trailer season: 65-80 F days for camp life, cool nights, and park lots that clear by mid-morning. Easter Jeep Safari (typically late March into early April) is the week to either book a year out or avoid: 20,000 visitors, full-hookup parks sold out 6-12 months ahead at 2-3x. Summer punishes trailers specifically — half of July over 100 F, asphalt the guide describes as blistering tires on long pull-throughs, and 30-amp pedestals straining under AC load. For dispersed plans, arrive before sunset: Willow Springs and Kane Creek roads turn to dirt, and night arrivals risk high-centering, per the guide's checklist.

The free option 13 miles north: dispersed boondocking for rigs to 40 feet under the BLM Moab Field Office's 14-day limit — after which the rules require relocating at least 30 miles. No hookups, no services; the road transitions from pavement to dirt, so claim a flat pad before sunset. Self-contained trailers with solar earn their keep here.
The independent mid-priced base 2 miles south: full-hookup pull-throughs with 30/50-amp, cable, and Wi-Fi for rigs to 45 feet at about $67 a night. It splits the difference between the KOA's scale and downtown's walkability, and its $10 dump handles the exit-day tank stop for dispersed campers rolling back through.
The cautionary spot every trailer plan must check: the combined vehicle-plus-trailer length limit is 28 feet, with no hookups, no showers, and no dump — which excludes most travel-trailer combinations outright. The guide's alternative is to base in Moab and day-trip the 75 miles south in the tow vehicle, swapping Needles camping for Needles hiking.

No — this is Moab's most renter-relevant rule. Municipal Code 12.16.020 makes parking any travel trailer, camper, ATV, or boat on a public street for more than four consecutive hours a violation, with impound as the remedy. The guide's first-day checklist says it plainly: unhitch at your campground or BLM site, never curbside.
In town, almost anything: the KOA takes 75 feet, Moab Rim 45. The parks are where size bites — Canyonlands Needles caps combined length at 28 feet, Kane Creek dispersed suits 30 feet, Willow Springs 40. A compact trailer opens every door; a large fifth-wheel trades the remote camps for day trips from a full-hookup base.
Free, first-come, and regulated: the BLM Moab Field Office allows 14 days per site, after which you must relocate at least 30 miles. Willow Springs Road and Kane Creek Road are the guide's named corridors — both transition to dirt, so arrive before sunset — and the Moab Information Center on Main Street stocks the current dispersed-camping map, since rules and closures shift seasonally.
