Rhode Island permits no dispersed camping — the entire legal supply is four state campgrounds plus private ground.
Charlestown Breachway accepts self-contained vehicles only, and the sand sites are sized for compact rigs rather than long-wheelbase vans.
Overnight parking is prohibited at every state beach lot and enforced through the season.
The camping season runs roughly mid-April to Columbus Day; nothing in the state system is open year-round.
Block Island takes vehicles on the Point Judith ferry but has no campground — day trips or lodging only.

South County beaches have consistently warmer water than Cape Cod because Block Island Sound is shallower and more sheltered — September swimming is normal here.
Arcadia is quiet enough midweek to feel like northern New England, twenty minutes from I-95, which is the strangest thing about the state.
