Ocala NF — Juniper Springs

Juniper Springs holds 8 million gallons per day of clear 72°F spring water and a 1935-built CCC-era millhouse stone weir that's a National Register entry on its own merits. The recreation area's developed campground caps rigs at 35 ft, dry-camp, with on-site dump — 79 sites set under sand pine canopy. Florida's winter-peak demand model means December through March bookings clear three months out and summer (June through August) opens up at the last minute. Dispersed camping is broadly allowed along Forest Service roads in the Ocala under the Florida NF MVUM — popular spots are off FSR 88 and FSR 86 in the Big Scrub area. The 7-mile Juniper Run paddle (run by a concessioner) is the corridor's signature half-day; rig parking at the put-in is overflow on weekends. Black bear and Florida scrub-jay encounters are routine.
