Humboldt Redwoods State Park · caps RVs at 33 ft

Year-round (Burlington) · May – Oct (Hidden Springs & Albee Creek)
More old-growth coast redwood than anywhere else on Earth — 17,000 acres of it, including the 51-acre Rockefeller Forest, the largest contiguous virgin redwood stand still standing. The Avenue of the Giants (Highway 254) parallels US-101 for 31 miles through the park and is the entire reason most rigs route here. Burlington Campground (south of Weott) runs year-round, 56 sites, 33-ft cap, dry-camp; Hidden Springs holds 154 sites with similar specs May through October; Albee Creek's 36 sites are the quietest and most forested. No hookups anywhere in the park system; the dump station at Burlington runs year-round. The Eel River parallels every campground loop and the summer swimming holes at Williams Grove and Garden Club Grove are the daytime anchor when the campsites bake.

Other state parks in California
Mount Tamalpais
Mt. Tamalpais posts a 24-ft road advisory and offers only walk-in tent sites — stage at China Camp or Samuel P. Taylor for RV camping, then day-trip the East Peak summit.
Anza-Borrego Desert
California's biggest state park lets you dispersed-camp any dirt road inside 600,000 acres — Borrego Palm Canyon holds the only full-hookup loop, and the operational season runs October through April.
Pfeiffer Big Sur
Pfeiffer Big Sur's redwood campsites cap at 32 ft, run year-round, and book six months ahead — but Highway 1 landslide closures north of the park are the actual planning constraint.
Henry Cowell Redwoods
Henry Cowell's 113 campsites are wedged between 277-ft coast redwoods at a 31-ft cap — no hookups, no on-site dump, but the canopy keeps it 15°F cooler than Santa Cruz year-round.
