Five hundred and ninety established rock-climbing routes on Fountain Formation sandstone — Eldorado Canyon is one of the most historically important sport-climbing destinations in the United States and the first ascent of the Naked Edge in 1962 helped define modern American climbing. The park is day-use only: no campground, no overnight RV inventory, and the canyon road (Eldorado Springs Drive) tightens past Eldorado Springs to a width that becomes hostile to rigs over 25 feet. Timed-entry reservations are mandatory May through October. RV staging routes to Golden Gate Canyon State Park (35 miles, full hookups), Cherry Creek State Park (40 miles, full hookups), or Boulder's private RV inventory. The South Boulder Creek runs cold and fast through the canyon floor and the picnic areas function as the climbing-spectator stage.
