Iron-oxide-tinted Navajo Sandstone grains eroded over millions of years produce one of the few coral-pink dunefields in North America — and OHV access is the headline use, with 90% of the dune field designated open to motorized recreation. The campground sits at 6,000 feet (high enough to stay cool when nearby Kanab bakes) and runs 31 sites with 30-amp electric and water hookups, 35-ft cap, year-round; the dump station opens with the main season. Reservations are mandatory March through November via the Utah State Parks portal; January and February are first-come. The Coral Pink Sand Dunes Tiger Beetle — federally endangered, found nowhere else in the world — restricts certain dune zones to foot traffic only; OHV riders must check the daily zone map at the entrance.
