Skyline Drive runs 105 miles along the Blue Ridge crest at a posted 35 mph and a steady 7-8% grade through the descents — it's the entire park's spine and every campground is a spur off it. Big Meadows (mile 51) and Mathews Arm (mile 22) accept rigs up to 35 ft; Loft Mountain (mile 79) and Lewis Mountain are similar. Dry-camp only across the system, with dump stations at Big Meadows and Mathews Arm. The fog ceiling drops below Skyline Drive's elevation roughly 60 days per year — visibility under 100 feet at Big Meadows is routine April through June. Bear activity is the second-largest planning factor: food storage rules match Yosemite's, citations included. Skyline Drive enforces no length limit but the overlook pullouts cap most large rigs.
