Private vehicles, including any RV, are barred from the Park Road beyond Mile 15 (Savage River Check Station) — the rest of the 92-mile road is bus-access only. That single rule reshapes every campground decision. Riley Creek Campground sits before the cutoff at Mile 0.25, accepts rigs up to 40 feet, runs dry-camp loops, and stays open mid-May through mid-September. Savage River Campground at Mile 13 also accepts RVs up to 40 ft. Teklanika River Campground at Mile 29 admits RVs with a 3-night minimum AND requires the rig to stay parked the entire stay — bus shuttle for everything else. Dump station at Riley Creek. The 2021 Pretty Rocks landslide collapsed the Park Road at Mile 43, and even with the reroute project, RVs will never reach the closure point.
