Mount Mazama collapsed roughly 7,700 years ago and left a 1,943-ft-deep caldera that the park's rim road circles at 7,000+ ft elevation — high enough that snowpack closes the Rim Drive's north and east sections roughly 9 months a year. Mazama Campground (concessioner-operated) accepts rigs up to 50 feet, runs mid-June through late September, and books out summer dates the week the window opens. Lost Creek Campground is tent-only. No hookups. Dump station at Mazama, in-season only. Rim Drive's geometry handles 50-ft rigs but the snow-clearing schedule defines access more than length — north entrance plows out latest, often not until July, and closes earliest, often before Halloween.
