Fort De Soto Park at the county's southern tip (Tampa Bay's mouth) is operated by Pinellas County Parks & Recreation (not state) and holds the only RV-friendly Gulf-side beach loop with full hookups in the metro, with reservations opening 6 months ahead and selling out within minutes for the November-April snowbird window. The Pinellas Bayway (CR-679) and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge connect the peninsula to the south Tampa Bay metro via a 5.5-mile cable-stayed crossing.
