Florida RV rental
sales tax, every line.
Florida RV rentals owe 6% state sales tax (§ 212.05) plus a discretionary county surtax of typically 1% (§ 212.054) — both collected at checkout. The $2/day rental-car surcharge does NOT apply: Rule 12A-16.002(1)(c)2 expressly excludes RVs with living facilities, travel/camping trailers, and van conversions. A separate $1/day peer-to-peer car-sharing surcharge (§ 212.0606(3)) may apply to drivable RVs booked through a platform — under legal review, not currently collected. Effective combined rate: 7%. Marketplace facilitator law: PickRV collects + remits, you don't file separately.

What hosts get caught by
Hurricane force-majeure cancellation must be honored when NHC issues a named-storm warning
Florida law treats a National Hurricane Center named-storm warning for the booked county as a force-majeure event. Hosts who deny refunds during an active NHC warning expose themselves to Fla. Stat. §501.204 unfair-trade-practice claims. PickRV's policy mirrors this automatically when the rental county appears on the NHC active-watch list.

Miami-Dade adds 6% TDT to the 7% state+local sales tax = 13% on a Miami booking. Monroe County (Keys) adds 5% TDT. Hosts must register with the county tax collector + remit TDT separately from state sales tax.
