Chelan County
County seat Wenatchee, 2,920 sq mi across Washington. Everything an RV traveler should read before rolling in — where you can boondock, the roads worth the detour, and the local rule that actually matters.

The county in brief
A traveler's read on Chelan County
Lake Chelan at 1,486 ft depth is the third-deepest natural lake in the United States and the 26th-deepest on Earth — carved by Pleistocene glaciers into a 50-mile fjord-shaped basin running northwest from Chelan town to Stehekin at the lake's roadless upper end.
North Cascades Highway WA-20 from Marblemount to Winthrop is the most dramatic mountain crossing in the Pacific Northwest with 5,477-ft Washington Pass and 4,855-ft Rainy Pass, closed by snowfall every November and reopening late April. Chelan County wraps Lake Chelan, the eastern Cascade orchards (apple-pear-cherry capital of the US per USDA NASS), and 50% of North Cascades NP. Wenatchee (population 35,508) is the resupply anchor.
