Sec. 54-465 caps non-residential street parking at 72 hours. That means downtown Denver is not a place to overnight your Class A — you stage at Cherry Creek State Park (Aurora, 12 mi SE), Chatfield (Littleton, 20 mi SW), or Dakota Ridge RV Resort (Golden, 15 mi W) and shuttle in.

Layer three more constraints on top: (1) the I-70 westbound corridor toward the mountains backs up Friday 2-7pm and eastbound Sunday 2-8pm — a 90-minute drive becomes 4 hours; (2) Mount Blue Sky Auto Road (formerly Mt Evans) restricts vehicles over 30 ft past Echo Lake; (3) Denver sits at 5,280 ft, so plan 24-48 hours of light activity before any high-altitude side trip, and June is the peak month for hail in the Front Range "Hail Alley" — covered or carport sites are a real consideration May 15-July 15.

Late August through September — afternoon hail risk drops sharply after Aug 15, I-70 weekend traffic eases post-Labor Day, daytime temps 70-80F, nights cool to mid-50s ideal for boondocking at altitude, aspens turn gold mid-Sept above 8,000 ft.

Season to skip

Mid-May through early July — peak Front Range hail season (June is the worst month, with 2+ inch hail historically most common end of May to last week of June), plus thunderstorm-driven flash-flood risk on canyon roads. Late December through February also harsh: I-70 chain laws, sub-zero overnight lows freeze water lines.

Avoid this trap

Parking a 24-ft+ rig on any Denver residential street while you Uber downtown for the night — Sec. 54-464 gives you 24 hours, but neighborhood complaint lines (Denver 311) flag oversized vehicles within hours, and tickets start at $50 with tow risk after first warning.

First-offense ticket $50 + tow ~$220 + storage $25-40/day. Reclaiming a towed Class A from Denver impound is a half-day project minimum.
