Parking ordinances that bite RVs
It is unlawful to occupy a camper trailer, camper coach, motor home, trailer coach or recreational vehicle for the purposes of camping or sleeping while the vehicle is located in any street, public right-of-way, or city-owned or city-managed parking lot in Durango.

What this means for you: Durango closes every public option at once — street, right-of-way and city lot. The violation is the sleeping, so it applies even where the parking itself would be legal.
Within any municipal parking lot it is separately unlawful to camp overnight or to park a recreational vehicle overnight, and commercial vehicles with a carrying capacity over one ton are banned from municipal lots entirely.

What this means for you: The downtown municipal lots — the obvious place to leave a big rig while you walk Main Avenue — are off limits overnight even if you sleep elsewhere. Parking the RV there is the violation.
On any street signed to prohibit all-night parking, no vehicle may be left longer than 30 minutes between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
